The Little Light House Story:
New Chapters Written Every Day
Steeped in a tradition of academic and therapeutic excellence, Little Light House is a tuition-free Developmental Center that for over three decades has been making a difference in the lives of hundreds of children with special needs. Founded in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Little Light House opened its first affiliated school in Central Mississippi, in January of 2006. Located at Christ United Methodist Church in Jackson, MS, Little Light House – Central Mississippi is financially and operationally independent of its parent school in Tulsa.
When Little Light House of Central Mississippi started in 2006, we had 6 employees (including 3 therapists), a few volunteers and 6 students. We are now able to serve 40 children in 5 classrooms with 26 staff members. God has been faithful to provide for us even during difficult times. We believe that LLH should never take on debt. That is why we are so very appreciative of every donation, regardless of amount. It would cost each child $20,000 to attend Little Light House of Central, Mississippi, however we have been able to allow them to attend TUITION-FREE. Accepting no government funding, we are entirely dependent upon fundraising events, donors, and community support.

Our Children
Little Light House serves children age birth through six with special needs. Our students come from a variety of religious and ethnic backgrounds, and have been diagnosed with developmental delays resulting from physically and mentally challenging conditions. Their disabilities include Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Hydrocephaly, Autism, and a range of other disorders.
How can you help?
We always need volunteers to help in the classroom. This consists of being able to play in the floor with our kids! Doesn’t that sound fun? How long as it been since you had child-like play? Use your imagination…laugh and know that because of your ability to play, you made a very special kids day!
Our families hear so many things that their children may never do. After all, science can only go so far…and then there’s God. LLH operates in the world of possibilities, where miracles can happen everyday, and we would love for you to experience these miracles with us.

Not only has God worked to expand this ministry, He has also blessed the work of our teachers and therapists. Since opening, many students have learned to walk, read, tell their numbers and overcome major barriers to eating. Some have transitioned into a preschool for typically developing children, and all are are making new friends. The list of accomplishments goes on every day.
